With the release of “Rock’n’Roll und Elvis”, the B-side of his first vinyl single, André Parker also made a name for himself as a songwriter. His producer liked the song so much that he recorded it himself and released it on his own LP.

With his own lyrics and compositions such as “Ausgerechnet Du”, “Rock’n’Roll und Elvis” and “Ich mag keine blauen Augen”, André Parker featured on numerous compilations. Soon, fellow artists were asking him for personal, made-to-measure songs.

The artists André Parker has written for include Wolfgang Sauer, Christa Haas, Peter Sebastian and the First Ladys.

“I write popular music with lyrics that aren’t necessarily autobiographical, but are taken from real life. That way, many people can recognise themselves in them.”

The stories behind the songs

Some of his own songs have special stories behind them, too.

“Bald ist Weihnachten” came about partly from the thought that there are hardly any new Christmas songs in German.

With “Gran Canaria te quiero”, André Parker wrote a musical declaration of love to his favourite island, where he was first booked in 1994 and with which he immediately fell in love.

André Parker owes the idea for “Die Party geht weiter” to a fan in Gran Canaria. After the summer break, he returned to the island and went back on stage. Someone in the audience shouted enthusiastically: “At last – the party goes on!” That spontaneous cry gave him the idea for a new song.

The Spanish song “Pronto es Navidad” came about while filming “Gran Canaria te quiero”. Spanish fans who had heard “Bald ist Weihnachten” on YouTube wanted to know what the song was about. That led to the idea of recording his own Christmas song for his Spanish-speaking friends and fans as well.

The Spanish lyrics were written by his longtime friend and colleague Gabriel Morales of the legendary “Mariachi Los Amigos”.

“Pronto es Navidad” has also attracted international attention: the song has its own artist page on the British Christmas station Santa Radio UK.

The comeback

In December 2015, André Parker returned to Schlager with “Bald ist Weihnachten”. It was followed by “Gran Canaria te quiero” and, with “Pronto es Navidad”, a Spanish version of his Christmas song.

The Spanish lyrics were written by Gabriel Morales of “Mariachi Los Amigos”.
